WiX Working Group video of the night, Firefly to Slingers?

Thursday, 17. December 2009 at 7:56 pm

The ill fated TV series Firefly was a favorite among many of us working on the WiX toolset. The box set with all the episodes was passed from person to person. When the movie based on the TV series, Serenity, came out we caught it in the theaters together.

Ironically, Firefly was also the codename used by the Visual Studio team to describe the project to include the WiX toolset in "Rosario". In retrospect, maybe a different codename should have been chosen. <smile/> Fortunately, unlike the Fox network which unceremoniously dumped the TV series, Visual Studio continues to contribute significantly to the WiX toolset.

Which brings us to our video of the night. I have very little information about "Slingers" but it looks freaking fantastic. It obviously reminds me of Firefly a little bit. I hope this show ends up funded and available somewhere on Netflix. Enjoy.

WiX Working Group video of the night, tin man tests gravity.

Friday, 11. December 2009 at 5:26 am

Last week I was told the video was too slow. Pretty but too slow. Everyone kept referencing Passenger Simulator that was going to be built by Bob’s old team (a story for a different night).

Anyway, tonight I thought I’d show another video of humans doing crazy stuff at high speed. Previously we saw people base jumping in bat suits. Here we’ll see a man wrapped in tin armor use roller skates to test gravity. How fast do you think he goes?

WiX Working Group video of the night, chill on the train to Tokyo.

Friday, 4. December 2009 at 6:21 am

Every once in a while reality is so surreal its hard to believe it isn’t computer generated. In tonight’s video we take a 1080p HD powered ride through a number of train stops in Tokyo. The video is stunning but it is the music that makes the whole experience so soothing.

So hit play, click maximize, kick back and imagine you are watching this video on a gigantic projector screen with the rest of us hacking on the WiX toolset tonight. Good night!
